UAE Petrol Prices 2026: What Does a Full Tank Cost Above Dh4, and What Could November Bring?

In October 2026 UAE petrol costs Dh4.40 a litre for Super 98, Dh4.28 for Special 95 and Dh4.21 for E-Plus 91, so filling a 62-litre sedan with Special 95 costs Dh265.36, about Dh100 more than in October 2025. These are the highest prices in over four years, but still 23 to 24 fils below the July 2022 record. November prices are due around 31 October.

KALQLATER ASSESSMENT

The short answer: petrol is above Dh4, but it is not a record

Every UAE petrol grade crossed Dh4 a litre on 1 October 2026 for the first time since 2022, after a 59 to 60 fil jump in one month. The headline “4-year high” is accurate. The idea that petrol is at an all-time high is not: Super 98 is still 23 fils below its July 2022 peak of Dh4.63.

The UAE Fuel Price Committee set October 2026 prices at Dh4.40 for Super 98, Dh4.28 for Special 95, Dh4.21 for E-Plus 91 and Dh4.80 for diesel. In September the same grades cost Dh3.80, Dh3.69, Dh3.61 and Dh4.30. That is a rise of 15.8% to 16.6% for petrol and 11.6% for diesel in a single month, according to Gulf News.

Over a year the jump is far bigger. In October 2025 Special 95 cost Dh2.66 a litre. Today’s Dh4.28 is 61% higher, which adds about Dh100 to a sedan tank and roughly Dh194 a month to a typical 1,500 km commute (our calculations below).

The cause is the oil shock that followed the Iran conflict. Brent crude averaged $70.89 a barrel in February 2026, then $103.13 in March and $117.29 in April, according to EIA spot data. After easing to the mid-$80s in June and July, it climbed again to an average of $114.16 in September.

Diesel is the exception

October diesel at Dh4.80 a litre is slightly above its July 2022 level of Dh4.76, according to Gulf News. For petrol, 2022 remains the record.

The 2026 pattern has three phases. From January to March prices barely moved and even fell, with Special 95 at Dh2.33 in February. The April price, set at the end of March, jumped 80 fils as the first full month of the oil shock fed through. Prices kept rising to Dh3.83 in June, eased in July, then climbed back to a new high in October.

Diesel moved even harder. It went from Dh2.72 in March to Dh4.69 in April, a Dh1.97 jump in one month, and stayed there in May. It then fell to Dh3.60 in July before rising to Dh4.80 in October.

KALQLATER CALCULATION

How much does a full tank cost in the UAE in October 2026?

A full tank in October 2026 costs Dh214.71 to Dh325.60, depending on car size and grade: Dh218.28 for a 51-litre compact on Special 95, Dh265.36 for a 62-litre sedan and Dh316.72 for a 74-litre SUV. That is Dh83 to Dh121 more than in October 2025, and Dh12 to Dh18 less than at the 2022 peak.

KALQLATER CALCULATION

What does a typical UAE commute cost in fuel per month now?

Driving 1,500 km a month on Special 95 now costs about Dh514 in an efficient car (8 L/100 km) and Dh770 in a thirstier SUV (12 L/100 km). That is Dh194 and Dh292 a month more than at October 2025 prices, or roughly Dh2,300 to Dh3,500 a year.

1,500 km a month is about 50 km a day, a typical return trip between Sharjah and central Dubai or between Dubai Marina and Downtown with some weekend driving. Litres per month = 1,500 × consumption ÷ 100. Monthly cost = litres × price.

For a household on a fixed salary, the jump is noticeable. A Dh194 monthly increase is the kind of change worth testing against your take-home pay in our Dubai salary calculator. Use the calculator on this page to enter your own distance and fuel use.

Wider inflation

Fuel and lubricants for personal transport were 37.52% more expensive in September 2026 than a year earlier, and transport costs were up 14.7%, according to the Dubai Data and Statistics Establishment as reported by The National. Headline Dubai inflation was 5.03%, down from a 2026 peak of 5.7% in June.

EXPLAINER

How are UAE fuel prices calculated since deregulation?

Since 1 August 2015, UAE petrol and diesel prices have been set monthly by a Fuel Price Committee, based on average global prices for petroleum products plus operating and distribution costs. The committee includes the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Finance, ADNOC Distribution and ENOC, and it announces the next month’s prices at the end of each month.

The UAE Cabinet ratified the deregulation in July 2015. Under the official announcement, the committee is chaired by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and includes the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance and the CEOs of ADNOC Distribution and ENOC. Prices are based on “average global prices” plus operating costs, and the mechanism “does not rely on just one global market”.

The government portal u.ae describes the same mechanism: monthly review of average global petroleum product prices plus operating and distribution costs. Neither source publishes the exact formula, the benchmarks or the averaging window. That is why nobody outside the committee can calculate next month’s price precisely.

  • What goes in Global prices for refined products (not just crude oil), plus the cost of running and supplying stations.
  • When it happens The original 2015 plan said prices would be announced on the 28th. In practice, recent announcements have come on the last day of the month, such as 30 September 2026 for October.
  • Who it applies to One national price is set for each grade by a committee that includes the two biggest retailers, ADNOC Distribution and ENOC, so the per-litre price does not depend on which brand of station you use.
  • Why it was done The 2015 announcement cited cutting subsidies, encouraging fuel efficiency and public transport, and lowering diesel costs for industry.
Why crude is only part of the story

The committee looks at refined product prices, which can move differently from crude. In June 2026 pump prices rose even though Brent’s May average had fallen, and in January and February 2026 they fell while Brent edged up. Petrol margins in Asia and supply problems can move pump prices on their own.

THE DATA

Do UAE petrol prices follow last month’s oil price?

Mostly yes. Over January 2025 to October 2026, Super 98 prices tracked the previous month’s average Brent price with a correlation of 0.90, compared with 0.71 for the same month. But the month-to-month direction matched only 14 times out of 21, so Brent alone is a rough guide.

The lag is clear in the big moves. Brent jumped from $70.89 in February to $103.13 in March, and the pump price jumped in April. September’s $114.16 average fed through to October’s Dh4.40. The ratio is not fixed, though: June 2022 Brent at $122.71 produced Dh4.63, while September 2026 Brent at $114.16 produced Dh4.40.

Spot vs futures

EIA’s September 2026 spot average ($114.16) sits well above the futures closes quoted in the news that month, which mostly ranged between about $98 and $108 (Gulf News, Khaleej Times). In a supply shock, physical cargoes can trade at a premium to futures.

INDICATIVE, NOT A FORECAST

What could UAE petrol prices be in November 2026?

November prices have not been announced; the committee normally publishes them on the last day of the month, so expect them around 31 October 2026. Brent futures have averaged about 4.6% higher in October so far than in late September, which points to flat or slightly higher prices, not a cut.

Brent futures closes reported for October include $100.32 on 5 October, $106.65 on 12 October, $109.86 on 16 October and $113.17 on 22 October, the highest close since 4 May. The nine closes we could verify average $107.64. The six September futures readings we found (between $98.10 and $108.06) average $102.92.

If pump prices moved in line with that 4.6% rise, Super 98 would be about Dh4.60, Special 95 about Dh4.48, E-Plus 91 about Dh4.40 and diesel about Dh5.02. That would still leave Super 98 just under the July 2022 record of Dh4.63. If instead the committee’s benchmarks track the EIA spot average, which was $114.16 in September and has not yet been published for October, the change could be smaller or even negative.

KALQLATER CALCULATION

Is an EV cheaper to run than a petrol car in the UAE now?

Yes, by a wide margin at October prices: 1,000 km in a mid-size petrol SUV costs about Dh385 on Special 95, compared with Dh46 to Dh76 for an electric SUV charged at home in Dubai. Even DEWA’s fast chargers, at Dh1.26 per kWh including VAT, come to about Dh252.

YallaMotor’s October 2026 running-cost comparison used September’s Dh3.69 price and found Dh332.10 per 1,000 km for a petrol SUV. At October’s Dh4.28 that figure rises to Dh385.20, which widens the gap with an EV. Home charging slabs (23 to 38 fils per kWh) are the cheapest option, but a wall box costs about Dh3,000 to Dh6,200 installed, according to the same analysis.

For most drivers, switching cars only to save on fuel will not pay off quickly once you add the price of the car. If you are replacing a car anyway, the running-cost gap is now the widest it has been since 2022. For longer-term reliability data, see our analysis of high-mileage EVs.

PRACTICAL STEPS

How can you cut your fuel bill in the UAE?

The quickest saving is using the grade your owner’s manual specifies: switching a sedan from Super 98 to Special 95, where the manual allows it, saves Dh7.44 a tank and about Dh14 a month at 1,500 km. Loyalty points add a little, and cutting distance or idling saves the most.

  1. 1
Check your manual before buying Super 98

If the manual allows 95 octane, Special 95 is 12 fils a litre cheaper. A US Federal Trade Commission-ordered consumer notice states that “ordinarily, your car will not benefit from using a higher octane than is recommended in the owner’s manual.” Cars that require 98 should stay on 98.

  2. 2
Do not drop below the required octane

E-Plus 91 is 7 fils cheaper than Special 95, but use it only if your manual allows 91. Using the wrong fuel can cause engine knock.

  3. 3
    Collect loyalty points

ADNOC Rewards gives 5 points per Dh1 on Special 95 and Super 98 and 3 points on E-Plus 91, plus 25% extra when paying with ADNOC Wallet. ADNOC’s FAQ indicates 1,000 points are worth about Dh1 in fuel, so this is roughly a 0.5% rebate (about Dh1.33 on a Dh265 sedan tank). ENOC runs its own YES Rewards scheme.

  4. 4
    Cut distance and idling

Every 100 km you avoid in an 8 L/100 km car saves Dh34.24 at October’s Special 95 price. Combining trips, using the Metro for regular commutes and switching off the engine instead of idling with the AC running all help.

  5. 5
    Budget for the November announcement

Prices for November are expected around 31 October. If you are near empty on the 31st and the new price is higher, filling up that day uses October’s rate.

Small wins (Dh5 to Dh20 a month)
  • Use Special 95 instead of Super 98 if the manual allows it
  • Collect ADNOC Rewards or ENOC YES points
  • Keep tyres at the right pressure
Big wins (Dh100+ a month)
  • Drive fewer kilometres or car-pool
  • Use the Metro or bus for daily commutes
  • Choose a more efficient car or an EV when you next replace yours
CONTEXT

Is UAE petrol still cheap by world standards?

Yes. At Dh4.28, Special 95 works out to about $1.17 a litre, about 26% below the global average of $1.59 for 95-octane petrol, according to Gulf News. Drivers in Singapore ($2.44) and the UK ($2.27) pay roughly twice as much.

Gulf News compared October’s UAE price, converted at the dirham’s fixed dollar peg, with global data from mid to late September. US petrol was $1.27 a litre on 21 September, so the UAE is now in roughly the same range as the US. Note that the global figures were collected before October’s increase in many countries.

Jet fuel is also more expensive. IATA expects airlines to spend $350 billion on fuel in 2026, up from $252 billion in 2025, which helps explain higher airfares. If you are planning trips, our Dubai tourist visa 2026 guide covers the other costs of a visit.

REALITY CHECK

Claims vs evidence: UAE fuel headlines in October 2026

“UAE fuel prices are at a 4-year high.”

Super 98 at Dh4.40 is the highest since 2022, when petrol first crossed Dh4 after Russia invaded Ukraine (Khaleej Times).

True

“UAE petrol is at a record high.”

July 2022 prices were Dh4.63 (Super 98) and Dh4.52 (Special 95), 23 to 24 fils above October 2026. Diesel at Dh4.80 is just above its July 2022 level of Dh4.76.

False

“A full tank now costs up to Dh125 more.”

That Gulf News figure is a 60-litre diesel tank compared with early-2026 prices. For a 62-litre petrol sedan versus October 2025, the increase is about Dh100.

Partly true

“UAE pump prices simply follow last month’s oil price.”

Super 98 correlates 0.90 with the previous month’s Brent average (Jan 2025 to Oct 2026), but the direction matched in only 14 of 21 months because the committee uses refined product prices.

Partly true

“Petrol prices will fall in November.”

Not announced. Brent futures in October have averaged above late-September levels, which points to flat or higher prices, not a cut.

Too early

“UAE petrol is still among the cheapest in the world.”

Special 95 at about $1.17 a litre is roughly 26% below the $1.59 global average for 95-octane (Gulf News, using September global data).

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What is the petrol price in the UAE in October 2026?

For October 2026 the UAE Fuel Price Committee set Super 98 at Dh4.40 a litre, Special 95 at Dh4.28, E-Plus 91 at Dh4.21 and diesel at Dh4.80. Petrol is about 59 to 60 fils dearer than in September, a rise of around 16%, and these are the highest petrol prices since 2022.

When will November 2026 fuel prices be announced in the UAE?

The committee normally announces the next month’s prices on the last day of the month. October prices were announced on 30 September 2026, so November prices are expected around 31 October 2026. They apply from 1 November. Until then, any November figure you see is an estimate.

Will petrol prices go down in November 2026?

It looks unlikely. As of 23 October, Brent futures have averaged about $107.64 on the days we could verify, around 4.6% above late-September readings, and closed at $113.17 on 22 October. That points to flat or slightly higher prices. The committee’s formula is not public, so treat this as indicative.

How much does it cost to fill up a car in the UAE now?

In October 2026 a 51-litre compact costs Dh218.28 on Special 95, a 62-litre sedan Dh265.36 and a 74-litre SUV Dh316.72. On Super 98 the same tanks cost Dh224.40, Dh272.80 and Dh325.60. A sedan tank costs about Dh100 more than in October 2025.

Are UAE petrol prices higher than in 2022?

No, not for petrol. The record was July 2022, when Super 98 cost Dh4.63 and Special 95 Dh4.52. October 2026 prices are 23 to 24 fils lower. Diesel is the exception: Dh4.80 in October 2026 is slightly above its July 2022 level of Dh4.76.

How are fuel prices decided in the UAE?

Since 1 August 2015, a committee chaired by the Ministry of Energy, with the Ministry of Finance, ADNOC Distribution and ENOC, sets prices every month. Prices are based on average global petroleum product prices plus operating and distribution costs. The exact formula is not published.

Should I use Super 98 or Special 95?

Use the grade your owner’s manual specifies. If it allows 95 octane, Special 95 is 12 fils a litre cheaper, saving Dh7.44 on a 62-litre tank. Consumer guidance says cars do not normally benefit from a higher octane than recommended, but cars that require 98 should not use a lower grade.

Is fuel the same price at ADNOC and ENOC?

Yes. The per-litre price for each grade is set nationally by the UAE Fuel Price Committee, so ADNOC, ENOC and Emarat stations charge the same. The differences come from loyalty schemes, such as ADNOC Rewards (5 points per Dh1 on 95 and 98) and ENOC’s YES Rewards, plus extra services.

METHODOLOGY

How we built this analysis

  • Monthly prices for January 2025 to October 2026 come from the UAE Fuel Price Committee’s announcements as reported by Gulf News, Khaleej Times and What’s On. Each monthly story gives that month and the previous one, and we cross-checked overlapping months. April 2026 E-Plus 91 (Dh3.20) comes from OneClickDrive’s tracker only.
  • Full-tank cost = tank litres × per-litre price. Example: 62 L × Dh4.28 = Dh265.36 (October 2026); 62 L × Dh2.66 = Dh164.92 (October 2025); difference Dh100.44. July 2022 uses Gulf News’s record prices (Super 98 Dh4.63, Special 95 Dh4.52, E-Plus 91 Dh4.44).
  • Monthly commute cost = km × (L/100 km) ÷ 100 × price. Example: 1,500 × 8 ÷ 100 = 120 L; 120 × Dh4.28 = Dh513.60; at Oct 2025’s Dh2.66 = Dh319.20; extra Dh194.40 a month, Dh2,332.80 a year.
  • Brent lag: we correlated EIA monthly Brent spot averages (Dec 2024 to Sep 2026) with the following month’s Super 98 price (Jan 2025 to Oct 2026): r = 0.90. Same-month correlation (Jan 2025 to Sep 2026) is 0.71. Direction matched in 14 of 21 month-to-month changes.
  • November scenarios: mean of nine verified October Brent futures closes ($107.64) ÷ mean of six September futures readings ($102.92) = +4.6%, applied to October pump prices (4.40 × 1.046 ≈ Dh4.60). The downside case uses $107.64 ÷ EIA’s September spot average $114.16 = −5.7%. These are arithmetic illustrations, not forecasts.
  • EV comparison: petrol SUV 9 L/100 km × 1,000 km × Dh4.28 = Dh385.20; EV 20 kWh/100 km × 1,000 km × tariff (Dh0.23, 0.38, 0.735 or 1.26 per kWh). Consumption assumptions follow YallaMotor.

Limitations

The UAE Fuel Price Committee does not publish its formula, benchmarks or averaging window, so the Brent analysis shows a relationship, not the actual calculation. Our October Brent average uses nine verified futures closes, not every trading day, and EIA’s October spot average was not yet available on 23 October 2026. Full-tank costs assume a completely empty tank. Real fuel use varies with driving style, traffic and AC use. Home EV charging tariffs are residential slab rates as reported by third parties and may exclude the fuel surcharge. This article is for information only and is not financial advice.
