Qatar's Labour Law sets a floor, not a formula: at least three weeks' basic wage for every year of service, once you have completed one year. Resigning does not reduce it and there is no cap. Law No. 9 of 2026 amended the Labour Law but left Article 54 unchanged. Enter your contract's rate if it is better than 21 days.
Basic wage only. Housing, transport and other allowances are not part of the gratuity wage.
Estimate of the legal minimum only. Contracts and company policies can pay more, employers may deduct amounts you owe, and free-zone or government employers can follow different rules. Not legal advice.
Gratuity = basic wage ÷ 30 × 21 (or your contract's days) × years of service
7.5 years × 0.70 month = 5.250 months of wage. QAR 8,000 × 5.250 = QAR 42,000.
| Situation | Minimum service | What is paid |
|---|---|---|
| Any end of contract, including resignation | 1 year | Full gratuity, pro rata for part years |
| Less than 1 year of service | — | Nothing |
| Summary dismissal under Article 61 | Any | No gratuity |
| Contract or company policy above 21 days | As agreed | The higher contractual rate applies |
Finding: not by law. The legal minimum is three weeks, which is 0.70 of a month's basic wage per year. Many employers pay more under their own contracts, and some advertise one month per year, but that is a contract term, not the statute. After 10 years the gap between 21 and 30 days is three months of basic pay.

Service is counted in calendar days between your joining date and last working day, inclusive, minus unpaid days, and converted to years at 365 days. Each band of service is multiplied by its statutory rate in months of wage, then any cap and resignation fraction is applied. Part years are pro rata where the law allows it.
Not modelled: contractual terms better than the law, free-zone or government schemes, deductions for amounts owed, and court or settlement outcomes. Results are estimates, not legal advice.
Article 54 of Law No. 14 of 2004 entitles a worker who has completed one year of service to at least three weeks' basic wage for each year of service. With the usual ÷30 daily wage, that is basic × 21 ÷ 30 per year, or 0.70 of a month. Part years after the first are paid pro rata.
Yes. Qatar's Labour Law does not reduce gratuity for resignation, provided you have completed one year of service and observe your notice period.
No statutory cap applies to the three-weeks-per-year gratuity.
On the last basic wage. Allowances such as housing and transport are excluded unless your contract says otherwise.
Law No. 9 of 2026 did not change Article 54. It added inciting an unlawful strike as a ground for dismissal without gratuity, effective once implementing decisions are issued.
